A comprehensive guide with maps – Valoris Gaming (2024)

Minerals can be found all over Halpha. In Phantasy Star Online 2: NEW GENSESIS, you’ll need minerals for a handful of things, such as:

  • Trading in low-level Augments for better ones at the Item Lab
  • Upgrading, Limit-Breaking, Unlocking potentials […] on your weapons and armor
  • Feeding the Region Mags for that sweet, sweet Drop Rate boost

This guide is being written after the recent Aelio materials re-mapping, so the maps are up-to-date.

At first, you may feel like you have a lot of minerals for the little use you make of them, but I can assure you that you should hold on to them; the cost of minerals for upgrades rises significantly later, and you will be running out. Still, some minerals have more uses than others, which is why I’ll share my farming priority with you later.

The minerals

There are currently (early ’23) 11 types of minerals: Monotite, Dualomite, Trinite, Tetracite, Pentalite, Hexakite, Photon Chunk, Photon Quartz, Photon Scale, and the rare Blizzardium and Infernium.

Below is a list of the minerals found per region, including a map of all spawn points

Aelio

In the Aelio region, you’ll find Monotite, Dualomite, Trinite, Photon Chunks and Photon Quartz.

Note: North Aelio is very rich in Photon Quartz, although you’ll find some Trinite every now and then.

Hitting all the minerals locations in Aelio gave me:

  • 90 Monotite
  • 109 Dualomite
  • 47 Trinite
  • 64 Photon Chunks
  • 83 Photon Quartz

Retem

In the Retem region, you’ll find everything from Aelio, as well as Tetracite and Photon Scales.

Some notes about Retem gathering: the most bountiful areas are West and North Retem, as well as Rwh Maqead. South Retem and Central Retem have materials all over the place, so if you don’t have it on already, make sure to turn on your Mag Sonar… you’ll be running around a lot.

Hitting all the minerals locations in Retem gave me:

  • 34 Monotite
  • 30 Dualomite
  • 71 Trinite
  • 47 Photon Chunks
  • 74 Photon Quartz
  • 154 Tetracite
  • 5 Photon Scales – yes, only 5 Photon Scales.

Kvaris

In the Kvaris region, you’ll find everything from Aelio, Tetracite, and Pentalite. Blizzardium will spawn here, too, but only during snowfall and blizzard weather.

Some notes about the Kvaris region: You can make use of floating boards to make gathering minerals faster, as they will break minerals… if you manage to hit them (I’m not the best at this floating board thing!)

For North Kvaris, Take the Ryuker Device to the highest peak and glide off to where you need to go!

Hitting all the minerals locations in Kvaris gave me:

  • 46 Monotite
  • 42 Dualomite
  • 54 Trinite
  • 43 Photon Chunks
  • 33 Tetracite
  • 60 Pentalite
  • 1 Blizzardium

Stia

In the Stia region, you’ll find almost everything: Monotite, Dualomite, Photon Chunks, Photon Quartz, Tetracite, Pentalite, Hexakite, as well as Infernium. You will also find Complex Minerals, which will give you all kinds of minerals, once you explode it with a Lava Bomb (which only spawn in certain weathers).

The Stia region’s minerals are not difficult to get quickly, unless you want to get the complex minerals, which may require you to wait until the right weather condition happens. Other than that, spawn points are all really close together in clusters, as you can see below:

The northernmost orange dot, for Hexakite, is particularly bountiful. Good thing too, considering that it only spawns there and around the middle of the map.

Hitting all the minerals locations in Stia gave me:

  • 9 Monotite
  • 75 Dualomite
  • 6 Trinite
  • 24 Photon Chunks
  • 46 Photon Quartz
  • 27 Tetracite
  • 1 Photon Scale
  • 54 Pentalite
  • 76 Hexakite

The small amounts of random minerals are due to the Complex Minerals, which I was lucky enough to find at the right timing.

mineral Priority

While you will need some of each mineral at some point, you will want some more than others. The most important ones to farm (in my humble opinion) are Photon Quartz, Tetracite and Hexakite. It’s always smart to keep extras of each mineral in your storage, though.

Item Lab

You can trade in low-level Augments for better ones at the Item Lab, with the help of some minerals. You’ll need Tritine, Dualomite, Tetracite and Hexakite for some, but the real PITA is Photon Quartz.

EVERYTHING in the “Exchange Enhancement Materials” tab requires Photon Quartz. And quite a bit of it, too. That is why, as soon as you start playing, I recommend doing a quick, daily run of North Aelio, which mostly spawns Photon Quartz with the occasional Trinites. That zone has level 10-12 enemies, so I don’t recommend going there much earlier than that, but reaching level 10 is very quick in PSO2:NGS.

Selling Minerals

I strongly suggest not to sell minerals. Selling materials such as fruit, vegetables and seafood when you have a ton of them (or if you have your Quick Food recipes down pat and you KNOW you don’t need some of these) is totally fair, considering just how much space it all takes up. TAMES meat, too, considering how easy it is to get it if you run out.

Minerals, are fewer in types (compared to over 70 kinds of foods) and, given that they are required for upgrades, more valuable. Some upgrades also cost up to 80 minerals at a time, which makes a dent in our stored reserves!

70+ types of foods? I don’t have that kind of storage!

Feels. Thankfully, you don’t need to gather all types, nor keep them. Once you have your Recipes figured out for which boosts you need, you can sell the rest.

Selling materials like this is negligible in terms of N-Meseta, but still. If you’re like me, and you grab each shiny thing on your way to your objectives, you’ll end up with stacks of unwanted materials, and it’s more N-Meseta than 0!

Speaking of N-Meseta, if you’re hurting for some cash, I encourage you to take a look at my guide here: Making N-Meseta in PSO2:NGS – How to Best Use Your Personal Shop Use Pass (100% Free-to-Play).

While it focuses mostly on the use of the Personal Shop Pass, and you may not currently have one (the article will show you how to get one!), it’s a good idea to stock up on Personal Shop best-sellers beforehand anyway. You can find a list of things to keep for selling in this guide as well!
