Been writing about diversity and inclusion in tech for years now. This latest report from Dice is a warning sign. It's one thing to see slow progress, but the trend of discrimination in the industry is actually ticking up.Last year, 1 in 4 tech workers experienced racial discrimination, higher than the previous year's survey. Gender discrimination saw a similar shift. What's driving the trend? One potential factor is the return-to-office wave of 2022. But there's also a major disconnect between how employees and employers perceive discrimination in the workplace. Here's more on the subject, including insights from DHI Group, Inc. CEO Art Zeile:

Electric cars are out, AI is in, Apple says.Bloomberg reports Apple will scrap its decadelong push to build an electric car, focusing resources on the more buzzy field of generative AI instead.Earlier this month, CEO Tim Cook made it clear the company was working on the technology, but taking a cautious approach to rolling out the solution. Apple has been a holdout among the biggest tech players, which spend most of last 12 months and change pushing generative AI features, solutions and platforms. The more things change, the more they remain the same.In the AI-fueled search for talent, executives still seek human soft skills.LinkedIn data shows employers haven't taken their eyes of the soft skills shopping list when searching for technology talent. For you job-seeking engineering candidates, that means communication, leadership and analytical skills translate into job market advantages. For CIOs, it means you still have to compete with other employers for people who bring the right mix of capabilities to the table.
